In this part, we analyze the evolution and basic characteristics of the Social Economy and of the different families that compose it, such as: cooperatives, associations, foundations, social firms, labor companies, mutual, insertion companies and special employment centers. We take an interdisciplinary approach by analyzing it from the economic and social function that these entities play in the economy and society as a whole.
